1.4.4 Resize Text (Level AA)

All text on your website should be able to be resized up to 200% without any loss of content or functionality on your website.

What you need to know

  • If the ability to zoom isn’t provided but the user can increase the text size, you need to ensure that the content is still usable when the text is resized.
  • Because images of text don’t scale as well as text this is another reason to opt to use text over images of text.

What you need to do

  • You should be able to increase text size on your page by up to 200% without the page display messing up or having text overlap other text or elements.
  • Make sure that all the information on the page is still displayed even when a larger font is used for the text.
